Les engagés de Bogota

ENGAGED ARTISTS IN BOGOTA

Portraits of underground artists from the Colombian capital

The Engaged of Bogota is a collection of photographs and interviews of six independent artists who live their art with passion And even if everyone fights against the ghosts of Colombia in its own way, we found through those stories a common voice denouncing the civil war, the corruption of the politics and fighting for Women’s rights.

Those stories are voicing hoping that the peace process is not only a process, the hope that the current development is an opening towards a concrete peace, the abolition of the differences of standard of living and a decline of the drug that gnaws the country.

Ajir writes, directs and plays war and its horrors on stage, Jorge raps the unity of a country to abolish its divisions, Lisa graff women on the wall of her neighbourhood so that women also exist on the walls of the city, Laura offers the victims the means of expression through performances, Xiomara dances the shadow that hovers over the country, and Johnny wants to laugh, because nothing stops the humour.

A big thanks to all the artists and to my interpreters Paola and Pablo.

The Zajana company scene photos were provided by the artist Xiomara Navarro.
